Hello there!

After a much productive day camped out in MZ's room, we have finally finished version2.0 of our presentation script! *excited* Can't wait to show you guys the presentation and let the pictures speak the many thousand feelings and experiences we've had in Mongolia that words cannot express!

Over the past 2 weeks that we've been back in Singapore, emails have been exchanged with our Mongolian friends. We've received a few updates on the lives of the friends we've made in Mongolia, and here are a few prayer requests that they have shared with us:

- Myadagaa, one of the Christian students from FCS is ill. She has a history of kidney problems and what is happening now seems to be a relapse. Please pray for her recovery as well as peace for her family because they are very worried about her. (Her parents are non-believers)

- Some of the FCS students and staff went on a missions trip to Darkhan 2 weeks ago. They have just returned. Please pray that the seeds sown on this trip will be well-watered, that appropriate follow-up can take place despite the distance between Ulaan Baater and Darkhan.

- Nyamaa, one of the FCS staffworkers is taking a 1-month break from work. She hopes that this will be a time of refreshing and rest. We want to keep her in prayer too!

Last but not least, ERNIE: please contact Sarah about her brother's slippers. Also, please contact MZ about your undeserving rewards for being the baby in the team. Further, please contact all of us, including the sups, about the important developmenT in your life (What was it again? The thing about reckless abandonment of flings? Or did we get it wrong? Was it something about reckless flinging of abandonment? hmmmm... :p)

Dear all. Thank you for praying alongside us all this while. Indeed, there is power in prayer! Even as we have now returned from our trip, let us continue to uphold the country of Mongolia and the FCS ministry in prayer. Here are some pointers that can guide us along. Please pray for the:

1. FOLLOW-UP on the students of the English Camp. There will be a follow-up meeting on 28 August 2006. Pray for connection between the new students (especially the 3 new believers) and FCS and that they will see FCS as a loving and relational community, and be willing to join FCS in the coming semester.

2. COMING SEMESTER.

i) New Evangelistic Efforts. An orientation program (e.g. study skills) for 1^st year University students is being planned to act as a platform to reach out to University students.

ii) New Student Leaders. There are 5 potential students who will become student leaders. Pray for them and the staff (who will be working specifically with them) as they face added responsibilities.

3. STAFF.

i) Chris as he becomes more involved in ministry, especially ministry amongst Mongolian Men. Also, pray for his spiritual growth and condition in Mongolia.

ii) Navcha to be an effective communicator of God’s will and Word to the students. In addition, pray for understanding of issues that students (especially women) face as she starts a women’s ministry amongst FCS students.

iii) Nymaa and her next semester responsibilities. She will be focusing on evangelistic outreach efforts to new students, as well as be involved in the training of leaders and working with Mongolian staff from all FCS chapters.

Hello from Chris' place

Hi again!

We're blogging from Chris' place. The second week of English camp has just passed and now we're only left with a week with the students. Interacting with them has been refreshing because they are really fun-loving and can be really really crazy most of the time. There were many activities such as gym time, Mongolian cultural lessons, bumming around and a countryside trip. The students are really open to Christianity so we really thank God for that. 2 of them have accepted Christ and one is kinda 'going to'. We just came back from church with them! ^^

Please continue to pray for us and the students. There are three other students who are non-believers. It's very easy to talk to them about Jesus but it is difficult for them to truly believe and take a step of faith. Pray also for them who have parental objections that they will persevere and know how to relate to their families about their choice of faith.

Pray for our team too because the days are jam-packed with activities and we are all quite worn out (but happy :). Continue to pray for our health, spiritually and physically.

Hello from Ulaanbaatar

Hello everybody,

We're blogging from Mongolia. It's been a fun trip so far. We have settled down pretty quickly and got used to the cold weather (it's really sunny yet windy, so we're all sunburnt and down with flu), but Chris our host missionary insists that this is "like the hottest weather we have in the whole year". Our apartment's rather cosy and hands-on cooking is urm fairly interesting too (but we're still fine and healthy!). Food served in Mongolian guans (shops) is delicious but consists of mostly meat and oil.

We've been pretty much slacking for the past few days. One of the highlights of our trip so far include participating in a Mongolian Worship Festival. It's really cool because the festival was held at the countryside and seeing all the Mongolian Christians worship together was an eye-opening and no doubt an encouraging experience. (Of course the scenery is superb too)

English camp starts today and we finally met up with the Mongolian students. They are a jovial (and crazy) bunch and meetings are usually rowdy events. We had some sort of a scavenger hunt around the city and visited Zaisen (historical monument) today. The camp will last for 3 weeks so please continue to pray for us!

Prayer requests:
1) Good fellowship with the students during the English Camp
2) To focus on our purpose of doing God's work here (and not just having fun)
3) For good health and rest each day

Sorry for the possibly substandard English, we're more focused on learning Mongolian these days and it's not an easy task!

(1) Continue mentoring our Mongolian staff and our teammates Chris and Chun;
(2) Finalize plans and strategies for the next 4 years; and
(3) Transfer our responsibilities smoothly to our staff team.
other concerns:
1. NEW STAFF HIRES. After a long application process and interviews, we have decided to hire two new Mongolian staff, Chimka and Shagai. Shagai begins immediately this week, and will be the first MALE Mongolian staff! Chimka will begin this coming July. Please pray for their preparations, including their fundraising, which will be challenging due to the small churches which they attend.
2. OTHER PERSONNEL CHANGES. Please pray for Joon Kim, a young Korean InterVarsity graduate who we've hired for a 2-year term. He moved to Mongolia last week, and will spend the next few months learning the language. Also, pray for Ariunaa, our new full-time FCS admin assistant. She will have the tough task of shoring up all our accounting systems and handling government relations.
3. NATIONAL STAFF MEETINGS (WEEKLY). National Staff Team Meetings (weekly). Because Mongolia is small, all of our 16 staff gather together on Mondays for a time of Bible Study, business discussion, and fellowship. Tom is responsible for this team time, and it is one of his most critical venues of influence. Please pray for stronger relationships to be built between team members.
4. STAFF TRAINING CAMP, APRIL 8-10. We've invited Annette Arulrajah, General Secretary of Malaysian Fellowship of Christian Students, to come to Mongolia and train our staff team in the area of spiritual formation. Pray for Annette, as she will speak cross-culturally to a primarily Mongolian audience. Pray for our Mongolian staff, who will listen and learn via a translator.

Bird Flu _
* Pray that it will be curbed, that people will be able to co-operate in doing so.
* Pray for Indonesia especially because it's one of the places most affected by the bird flu.
* Pray for China because it seems to be still spreading there.
Other teams _
* Pray for the stability of political situation in Philippines (Arroyo just declared a state of emergency last week)
* Pray for political situation in Thailand too (as regards to people protesting against Thaksin: pray that violence will not break out)
* China: as above, and it's pretty serious because bird flu is breaking out mainly in Guangzhou
